Great Cranberry ReportGinger and Jennifer Cook have been renting the CIRT-owned "Rice House" on Great Cranberry since last May. Ginger and Jennifer have lived on the island since the summer of 2000. Ginger builds boats at Newman & Gray boatyard and Jennifer works as a dispatcher for Beal & Bunker. They both have other odd jobs as well, including managing the island gas pump. Ginger and Jennifer are pleased to be living in the Rice House. The availability of CIRT housing makes it possible for them to reside year-round on Great Cranberry. The "Kane House" on Great Cranberry remains empty, pending resolution of a lawsuit about acceptable uses of the town-owned land. Attempts to settle the dispute are ongoing. The CIRT Board is hopeful that a resolution is forthcoming. In the meantime, minor repairs have been made to assure the house is weather tight.
Donations SoughtWith this newsletter the Cranberry Isles Realty Trust is making its annual solicitation for contributions. Funds are needed to pay off the loan on the Islesford house and to pay for renovations to the Kane House, when the lawsuit is resolved. The CDBG grant has been exhausted, and CIRT is looking to your generous contributions to carry forward the effort to provide affordable year-round housing in our community. CIRT is always interested in land or houses on the Cranberry Isles. We accept donations and consider purchases. Various techniques can be used to maximize the tax benefit of your charitable contribution or sale to CIRT. Don't hesitate to contact any CIRT board member about your interest. Please contribute to the Cranberry Isles Realty Trust! |
